Peter McCarthy
Peter has always taken a very keen interest in business and entrepreneurship. His early career in large corporates taught him valuable lessons in turning companies around and then growing them. He founded his first company, a technology based telecommunications consultancy, in the early 80s .
Over the following 20 years Peter grew the business organically and by acquisition creating a group that provided high value outsourced services as well as internet-based communications, training, and consultancy services.
In 2000 Peter sold the business to a GE Equity backed US enterprise. He then co- founded the first UK web business providing safety critical information to the aviation industry.
Peter has been closely involved with the development of business incubators and has advised a number of charities and business organisations. For several years he was the Chairman of the Bristol, Bath and University of the West of England Business Plan Competition.
He is Managing Director of Radius Enterprise Development Centre, Chairman of Clevedon Hall Ltd, Chairman of Parsnip Mash and a director of Aviation Briefing. He is also actively involved in education as the Vice Chair of Merchants Academy, Chair of the Faculty of Business and Law Advisory Board at the University of the West of England and a member the Brunel Institute Advisory Board.
Peter has an engineering degree and a MBA from Manchester Business School. He is also a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology.
